The Dharamkot Centre operates from April until the end of October.
"Join our open jam sessions, drumming and bhajan singing on Fridays from 8 to 10 pm"
Established in 1985, the Centre in Dharamkot was built with the desire to give visitors a feeling of inspiration and devotion. The Yoga Hall provides all the practical needs for students, as well as unique artistic beauty. The land surrounding the structure is given as much care and significance as the Yoga Hall itself. Being just a bare piece of land when we started, our Centre is now home to 150 trees, and several varieties of flowers, roses and shrubs. In order to attract as much wildlife as possible, four ponds have been introduced into the gardens.
At the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre, we not only wish to encourage an awareness of the body, mind and spirit, but also sensitivity and gratitude for our natural environment, which in itself is devotion and respect to the highest principle of nature - Prakruti.
In Dharamkot, we also plan to have a library covering all aspects of Yoga and spiritual philosophy. Accommodation for students is available on campus and a variety of housing options are found very close to the outskirts of the Centre.
The Centre is located in Village Dharamkot, just above McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala and operates during the Spring, Summer and Autmn Seasons, from early April until the end of October. For bookings and information the centre office is opened 9:00am-6:00pm from Thursday to Tuesday.
The Goa Centre operates from early November until the end of March.
Nestled in the shade of palm, elephant fruit and mango trees, just a few minutes’ walk away from the sea, our Centre in North Goa offers a peaceful and natural environment for Yoga practice. Although located in the heart of Arambol, the Yoga Centre provides a serene retreat. The practice space, constructed of natural materials, offers a great sense of openness and oneness with the surroundings. Basic huts with built-in lockers are provided for students. To secure your accommodation inside the Yoga Centre, please book your hut in advance emailing us at info@hiyogacentre.
The Centre in Goa operates during the winter, from early November until the end of March. For bookings and information the centre office is opened 9:00am-6:00pm from Thursday to Tuesday.

Gardener & Maintenance In-charge
I have been working on grounds maintenance at the Dharamkot Yoga Centre since the beginning of its operation. I do my job in the spirit of Bhakti, or devotion to God, and take great joy in doing my duties, especially when working in the gorgeous flower gardens.
Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre: Balah began his work with HIYC as a painter. Showing pride in his work, he was asked to stay and take on more responsibilities, like gardening, premises maintenance as well as take care of the security at the Dharamkot Yoga Centre. Balah is always sincerely kind and friendly, and you will rarely see him without a smile upon his face. He takes his duties seriously, and does wonderful work in the gorgeous flower gardens as well as in maintaining the Yoga hall and the Yoga Centre house and students rooms. When asked how he can work so hard and be so joyful (you will often head him sing while working) he said, “When I work, I work for God.”
Construction & Technical Foreman
I work at the Himalaya Shanti Ashram as well as at the Yoga Centres in Dharamkot and Arambol. I take great care in doing the highest possible quality of work. I believe in Guruji’s work and am doing my best to support him. I am with the Himalaya Shanti Ashram from the beginning and participated hand in hand with Guruji in creating this space for the Yoga, Meditation and Healing.
Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre: Subhashji – our Mistri – is an Angel of the Ashram, with such heart and dedication for taking care of this space. He fixes anything from construction, electricity, plumbing to tailoring or any other problem that comes up. He is so dedicated that often he stays on for night and works until going to sleep – without showing a sign of tiredness. Whenever he is needed – he is available. Always positive, smiling and with great passion for his work, which is very contaminating – whichever other employees are around him they seem to move faster. His duties seem to be his hobbies. With an eye for detail and excellent problem solving skills, Subhashji is affectionately referred to as the “Amazing Guy” or “Golden Hand”. He is responsible for all technical matters of repair, construction and design from creating samples and sewing props to building houses. He takes great pride in always doing the highest possible quality of work. We are lucky to have him involved in all three of our locations.
