Yoga Teacher Internship Program
Learn to teach by assisting. Gain practical experience at our centre in Dharamkot under Master Yoga Teacher Sharat Arora.
About the Yoga Teacher Internship
We are happy to announce a new program conducted by Master Yoga Teacher Sharat Arora, who has 48 years of experience in teaching and healing and has maintained an unbroken yoga practice throughout.
To join this program, your Teacher Training Course (TTC) will be your own investment. After completing it, you will be certified as a Level 1 Teacher of the Sharat Arora Yoga Teacher Method.
It is after this that we invite you to come and assist with us as an intern at our centre in Dharamkot, to gain practical experience.
We highly recommend a minimum of 3 months of initial assisting, during which you will gain the experience you need in correcting and teaching the asanas. You will also learn more about the progression of the practice and the teachings by attending, assisting and eventually teaching in the 5-Day Courses.
Your Pathway as a Yoga Teacher Intern
-
Complete your TTC — Level 1 Teacher
After your Teacher Training Course you are certified as a Level 1 Teacher of the Sharat Arora Yoga Teacher Method.
-
Assist as an intern — minimum 3 months
Join us in Dharamkot to assist and learn correcting and teaching of the asanas, and how the practice progresses over time.
-
Affiliated Teacher — after a minimum of 6 months
After at least 6 months of the assisting internship with HIYC, you are promoted as an Affiliated Teacher of the Sharat Arora Yoga Method on our website to our students around the world. To qualify, you must have taught a full 5-Day Course at HIYC under the supervision of a Senior Teacher. This is at the Master Teacher’s discretion and is based on your learning, ability to assist and teach correctly, discipline and performance.
-
Continue for a year or more
Continue the internship with HIYC for upwards of a year and receive a percentage of the fee gathered on the course. At this stage you are permitted to assist on the Intensive Course at the Himalaya Shanti Ashram.
-
Level 2 Affiliated Teacher — after 24 months
After a minimum of 24 months of the assisting internship with HIYC, you become eligible to qualify as a Level 2 Affiliated Teacher of the Sharat Arora Yoga Method (SAYM). We would inform our students worldwide, via social media, if you open a yoga centre, and about any courses you hold in the Method. At this stage you are considered a fully fledged teacher of the Sharat Arora Yoga Method. This is at the Master Teacher’s discretion and is based on your learning, ability to assist and teach correctly, discipline and overall performance.
Options After You Finish Your TTC with HIYC
There are multiple options open to you once your TTC is complete:
- Continue your self-practice at the centre, with the possibility of attending meetings.
- Observe the therapeutic guidance provided on the courses, how it is followed up and how it progresses. You develop practical skills in adjusting the poses to deal with particular misalignments, injuries and diseases, both physical and mental. Yoga therapy is a fundamental part of our method.
- Continue in an internship at HIYC for a minimum of 3 months, working towards Affiliated Teacher status as described above.
- Continue the internship for a year or more, receive a percentage of the fee gathered on the course, and assist on the Intensive Course at the Himalaya Shanti Ashram.
Courses on the Teacher Pathway
Each stage of the pathway connects to a course at HIYC. See the upcoming course dates and booking page to plan your journey.
Frequently Asked Questions
The 3 weeks of the Yoga Intensive Course, which immediately precedes the Teachers Training Course, is a must for participation in the TTC as it forms the practicum element of the TTC.
We highly recommend that you complete the full 6 weeks of the TTC course. However, if you have completed a Yoga Intensive Course in the past year you may make a personal application for attending the three weeks of TTC only. Applications are decided on a personal basis by Master Yoga Teacher Sharat Arora and his team, based on your description of your daily practice since your Immersion/Intensive Course.
If you have completed the 160H Intensive Course into the Sharat Arora Yoga Method in the past, please email the office at info@hiyogacentre.com for information about pricing.
If you are not signing up for the complete 7-week TTC package, including the 9-day Intensive prerequisite, then you must have completed 3 or more 5-Day Courses at HIYC before the TTC starts.
If these courses were more than 3 months before the TTC start date, or if they were within 3 months but you have not sustained a regular daily practice since, please email the office at info@hiyogacentre.com and describe your practice. Master Yoga Teacher Sharat Arora and his team will advise whether you should attend another 5-Day Course before joining.
